Why?

The humble part of my soul wonders why should I create a blog? Why do I think I’m important enough to write a blog? Why does what I have to say matter? Am I being arrogant or self-serving? I’ll address those questions in this first blog post.

Why do I think I’m important enough to write a blog?

As a human being I don’t think I’m entitled to write a blog to share my thoughts because I think I’m a better human being, however, I don’t think I’m any less important. Friends, family, and coworkers have complimented me on my wisdom gained through my many failures and successes. They support this effort.
It doesn’t make me a more important human being. My value is not defined by my wisdom nor my ability to write this blog. I’m not more valuable, nor less. It’s just something I can do, so why not?

Why does what I have to say matter?

I truly don’t know if it does. Some friends, family and co-workers feel I have valuable insights to share. I’m sure there are many that don’t agree. It doesn’t matter either way, what matters is that I feel what I have to say matters due to positive reactions I’ve received from those I love and that love me, so I’ll share my feelings and opinions and hope it matters enough to even help one other person.

Am I being arrogant or self-serving?

First off, part of the blog will be self-serving. I want to continue to be a successful leader in my software development career. Improving my brand as it were might lead to opportunities where I can have maximum impact and success.

I hope it’s not perceived as arrogant. I am a confident person, however, that confidence is based on belief of my abilities, not because I think I have more value as a human being. I hope it shows in my writing.
